I will be attending LSA first year and then I will apply to Ross for my sophmore year. My question is: How tough is it to get into Ross?
Also, what are the requirements to enter LSA honors college..And does being in the honors college improve your chances of getting into Ross?

I have similar questions…I would like to add one more. What do most students do if they are not admitted to Ross? Stay in LSA and major in Econ? Are you able to take any business classes if you are in LSA?

Here is the profile for the class of 2011. 37.5% acceptance; Ave UM GPA of 3.63.

For the LSA Honors Program (not a separate College) you should review the linked Q&A here:

Essentially, if you are in the top quartile of acceptances and write a good essay, you’ll have a good shot of acceptance in the Program. Alexandre has said he doesn’t believe being in Honors will help your acceptance into Ross. But those able to gain acceptance to Honors likely have the capability of being successful enough in their Freshman year to gain acceptance into Ross.

D’s dream was to enter Ross after LSA for her sophomore year. But poor FA package killed that. What softened the blow for her is; neighbor, now freshman at UMich matriculated with a 3.98 UW gpa and 35 ACT - translated into a 3.3 gpa at LSA and was turned away from the Ross BBA program. Now what?! that’s what he went to UMich for… we’ll see.

D is headed to IS school with reputable/credible (not top 10) but decent undergrad Biz program.

makes no sense for 3.98, 35 kid not to apply for preferred admission to ross, especially if he had planned on being in business eventually. lsa econ is also better than any other bba program in the state as far as recruitment etc.

Not sure if Econ is his thing. That’s a different concentration than Business. And I’ve seen Ross preferred’s with those stats get rejected. He went thinking he’d get in on Ross - either way, its a bummer.

I think the best answer for OP is how well high school prepared you for college. You will have only two semester’s worth of grades that will put a very heavy weight on your application. Those that aren’t as prepared or don’t come in with the right study ethics may find a dip in their grades before realizing any rising trends, however by then it’s too late when it comes to Ross admission. Just be sure to come out the gates strong, then I think getting into Ross should not be a problem. Keep in mind to also keep up with extra currics and write good essays.
