Which one is harder to get into?
How hard is it to transfer from one to the other?

Engineering is the harder one to get into. From what I've heard, it is pretty easy to go Eng->LSA once you're here, but much harder to do the reverse (because of GPA/class prereqs and such).

LSA accepts roughly 40% of applicants, compared to 65% at the CoE. However, the mean SAT score and GPA of students admitted into the CoE is slightly higher. So it is hard to say which college is harder to get into.

In terms of transfering from one college into another, it is easier to transfer from Engineering into LSA, primarily because the CoE has many requirements, such as Math 115, 116, 215, 216, 217, Physics 140 and Physics 240. A student must maintain a 3.0 average in those classes to transfer into the CoE. However, students who manage to maintain that 3.0 GPA should have no trouble transfering into the CoE and those who do not should not really be thinking of majoring in Engineering.
