LSAC and Study Abroad

<p>hey everyone
I'm a standing sophomore at Brown University and am currently doing a summer program through Boston University learning International Relations. It is actually 2 classes (3 weeks in switzerland another 3 in London) but Brown is only counting it as 1 credit and as a pass/fail class. I've recently learned that this transcript will probably be sent to Law Schools when I apply and will even be factored into my LSAC gpa. I was wondering if anyone could please verify this because I was under the impression it was just a pass/fail and have been traveling and learning but not necessarily trying my best in class.
Thanks.</p>

<p>All undergrad work gets counted. However, [url=&lt;a href=“http://www.lsac.org/policies/transcript-summarization.asp#unconverted]pass/fail[/url”&gt;http://www.lsac.org/policies/transcript-summarization.asp#unconverted]pass/fail[/url</a>] credits don’t go towards your GPA. They have their own column.</p>

<p>LSAC requires transcripts from all institutions at which you complete college-level work, even foreign institutions. If that transcript shows actual grades (not P/F), my understanding is that LSAC will include those in your LSAC GPA calculations, even if Brown treats it as a single P/F class. Following the boards while my S and D have applied to law school over the past 5 years, I have seen students’ LSAC applications held up while waiting for foreign transcripts for study abroad classes. I would recommend contacting LSAC and confirming this information while you still have time to do something about the grades in these classes, if necessary.</p>

<p>For info like this, go to LSAC for OFFICIAL info. If you can’t figure it out from this, call. (My take, after reading it, is that your study abroad grades WILL be included.)</p>
