I'm currently a freshman at NYU majoring in Economics and Mathematics. Hopefully, one day I will find myself at a top law school. My first semester I had a 3.75, so I'm doing what I can so far. My fear is that my LSAT score will hurt me. (I'm not the smartest kid, I just work really hard.) This is what happened to me in hs. I had a 4.115 GPA but a 1260 SAT. I was wondering if it would be possible to start studying for the LSAT this summer so I can be as prepared as I'll ever be or is there material I need to learn?

That would be nuts. You don't need to start studying for another year and a half.

I am a first year student as well and I have heard from a lot of people that the best prep for the lsat is a challenging courseload throughout your college career so that you can train your mind to think different and so forth. The lsat prep will only help critique the knowledge/brainpower you already have... at least that's what I have pieced together so far!

you really cant study for the lsat. i am also a freshman, and plan on taking it this summer. just practice, and take it

Why are you taking the LSAT as a Freshmen? I'm a Junior and I'm just now thinking about taking it!

Studying for the LSAT now will accomplish two things: 1- early burnout; 2- possible change in your plans. No need to rush either; put the idea away and think about it in two years. Who knows; you may decide to stay in math.

well i plan on graduating in 3 years, and might as well get it over with

Don't you have anything better to do with your time?

I mean that seriously. Aren't there campus activities? IM sports? Jobs? Volunteering? Hanging with your friends? Unless you have a 4.0, improving your grades (which will do more to get you into law school than early LSAT studying)? Really - picking lint out of your belly button?

Maybe I'm just a busy woman, but I can imagine a lot better uses for your time than learning to take a test. If you want to be a lawyer in a few years, study for it and take it then. Until then, do something fulfilling.
