In your opinion do you think LSE would still be one of the best, if not the best university for economics in Europe after the UK leaves the EU ? I read that more than 70% of the students there are international students, so wouldn’t that be a big problem after the UK leaves ? I wanted to apply to LSE, but then I thought about the possible consequences of Brexit. Now, I am not sure whether or not the Bocconi University would be a better choice because that is in my opinion the best university in Europe for economics (excluding the UK).
I doubt LSE will be affected by Brexit, if you are EU it will mean you are unable to stay after graduation. Despite having economics in the name to say the LSE is the best in Europe is a bit of a reach. Economics is not an exact science and yet LSE with its fetish for mathematics attempts to impart scientific rigour where it is neither warranted nor appropriate; a student of economics would be better served studying economic history, psychology and ethics, I say this as someone who has spent a 33 yr career in international trade and finance. If you are looking for a student experience in London studying economics I would recommend UCL before the LSE.
It’s so hard to say what’s “best for economics”. LSE will always impart a rigorous quantitative background, regardless of whether it is in the EU or not.
