Hi guys, now that I have been accepted to both GaTech and LSE I am having trouble deciding where to go next year. I like both industrial engineering and management but cannot decide where to go. Which university would allow me to get a job easily or to have a greater international focus. Is GaTech well regarded internationally?

LSE has special ties with some of the biggest and most prestigious banks and firms in London. You can’t go wrong on choosing LSE. However, if you have Wherton or HYPSM, then that’s a different story.

What do you think about GTech? Will I have the same opportunities than in LSE?

GTech is a well-respected school. However, business isn’t its strongest; it’s engineering or STEM. As a result, there are fewer GTech alumni in the business and financial world, compared to the top 30 schools. LSE, on the other hand, is very well-connected with the financial world in London, Europe, Asia, and in many parts of the world, as its alumni are mostly concentrated in that field. If you’re putting much premium on career placement success, then I believe LSE wins this one. However, I would rather treat this as a case of USA vs UK.

If you like to live in the US for the next 4 years of your life, with a possibility of getting employed by a US firm, then go to GTech. Otherwise, go to LSE.

My problem is that I am not sure what to major in. If I go to GTech I would major in industrial engineering, whereas if I go to LSE I would major in business. Help… I don’t know what to do.

I don’t think you can change majors at LSE (though I would surmise it would be very hard to do it as well at GTech), but management is a very general program and I think you’ll learn to like it eventually. It also is a safer bet as it isn’t as hard as engineering in general.

Don’t be afraid to go to LSE. It is a fantastic place for your major or for anyone who can see himself working in the banking/financial world. LSE’s environment is also supportive to students - lots of student-run orgs, clubs and societies that you can join in to make your stay in the university truly worthwhile.

Thank you for your insight’s, I really appreciate it.
