LSE vs. Oxford

I was just wondering if anyone who has studied at the above mentioned universities can shed some light on their time there. I am thinking of studying at one of the schools next year.

Specifically, I was wondering about the work load, the student body, and the general work life balance. I know both are excellent academically, but I was looking to see which one is more fun, for lack of a better way of summarizing.

never studied at any of those universities but according to the ratings Oxford is better and I like it more

For starters, neither are campus universities, but rather spread out in their respective host cities. I'd wager that being spread out in London would be a whole lot more fun than being spread out in Oxford. However, London is extremely expensive and you can probably find more institutions catering to students (and student budgets) in Oxford. In both places you will find very diverse student bodies but the residential aspect of college life might be more palpable in Oxford. I spent one summer living in a LSE dorm and was not impressed. The dorms are far apart and it is also my impression that many students choose to live on their own. This is not the case in Oxford where the majority of undergrads live in college housing and the ones who don't are still close to their respective colleges as the city itself isn't very big.
