I think I might get lsp’d. I have not had a decision yet come in the mail, althought I am still harrowing over my grades which are at best mediocre.

my essays were very good. my sister at duke sat down and we spent hours a day putting it together. I’ve won debate awrds on the national level, trumpet player, piano, and more. I also sat in on a stern class and wrote about it. are my chances decent?

Depends on your SAT scores :)

@xtheever - no, I applied RD

@colij - you’re really on the fence…there are students in both lsp and cas with lower and higher scores than you…do you come from a small school? did you convey an interest in liberal arts or the humanities in your essay?

but you could definitely get into CAS ED with those scores. there’s really nothing you can do now, so just relax :]

I come from a pretty big school I guess, around 1500 students. We don’t rank students though, I took 5 AP classes, I have a great essay, creativity theme based ( I spent months writing it and editing and adding new ideas).
My additional Info essay is about a time I sat in on a STERN class with my sister who goes ther. I spent days writing it with my sis… I play the trumpet for school (multiple bands), piano for 6 years, national debator and more…

I’m really hoping they overlook my sat 2’s tho and are more forgiving towards my low gpa

Your SAT 2’s are not bad! Even for NYU!

On my schools college packet… the average gpa if students accepted was 93… and the SAT was 2010… My is below a 90 :X… would that be too big to over look lol

I dont understand that scale?

My school is on a 4 point gpa scale… but no that is not too low.

i think a 90 is about a 3.0? i’m not sure any more.

a 88.6 is about a 3.35. a 3.5 is a 90. 4.0 being a 95 i believe

Here is the letter grade to GPA point (at least at my school) out of 4.0:

A+ (97-100) = 4.33
A (93-96) = 4.0
A- (90-92) = 3.67
B+ (87-89) = 3.33
B (83-86) = 3.0
B- (80-82) = 2.67
C+ (77-79) = 2.33
C (73-76) = 2.0

Wow, you have it easy! My school is:

A+ (100) = 4.333
A (96-99) = 4.0
A- (94-95) = 3.667
B+ (92-93) = 3.333
B (88-91) = 3.0
B- (86-87) = 2.667

Must I go any more? Lol.
I feel this will help for my acceptance though, cause I have managed to STILL get a 4.0 unweighted (higher weighted) and have a majority of A+'s :)

wait what skools grade like that? from like 90s to 100?

and i cant believe ppl got in with 1700s-1800s!!! ahh thats me! lol i got an 1800 : / not braggin about that but thats what i got and i want to go to NYU lol soo idk maybe i have a chance…? i still need to bring my hopes down…jussst in case. although my other favorite is USC…and idk how im gonna take that if i get rejected to both my favorite skools lol but i DO have lotza things like ppl said…that might help me get in. so maybe thatll work.

Yeah, they dont use scores as a great weight anymore. Thats what the admissions lady told me :)

i hoope not. ill probly faint if i see a big package arrive lol it probly wont happen lol jk idk ahh i just want to leave hooome.

Yeah, same. I live in Indiana… and its so boring. Lol.

ahaha i knoow its so boring where i live too lmao. are u guy or grl btw? and u had the same scores or near what i had right? i could go thru my messages but ill find out from u probly in ur next post. lol but i guess we’ll find out next week…so we’re not lsp’ed right? i guess thats good if we’re not rejected : /

I’m a guy. And yeah we had about the same… I’m nervous for next week since my scores are low…

yeah lol maybe…just to keep our hopes up…maybe they dont accept the kids with top scores cuz they know THEY will get in somewhere else like columbia or cornell or sumthing…but for us, we would fit in, somehow at nyu, according to their standards. idk. cuz we DO have pretty good stats kinda lol idk…? mannn : [ i just took the sats today and its my laast dayy woo!

Ha, well I’m from Indiana… so I may have an advantage because hardly anyone applies from here
