Is anyone still waiting on a decision? As more time goes by I get more and more worried. I am an OOS (PA) with a 3.02 GPA and 1040 SAT and a sport for three years. I thought I was a lock being recently accepted to Loyola New Orleans (about a ten percent lower acceptance than LSU) but I have been getting very antsy with LSU.
@jakepaluba12 Me, my friend. I’m oos (VA) also, but my parents are military and pay Louisiana taxes so technically I’m in-state. I was accepted into Loyola as well. My cousin got his acceptance for LSU yesterday and he applied later than me. I’m starting to get really nervous. Just hoping any day now we’ll find out. Hoping for the best
@Mkaylaj did you get any money help from Loyola. I was able to get a 17k a year scholarship from them which was awesome. At 75% acceptance rate I highly doubt LSU is declining someone above 3.0 or above 1000 SAT that would seem very foolish. Hoping for the best for both of us. I feel like we still have a good shot.
@jakepaluba12 I received $20,000 annually, which like you said is really good. I feel like if we could get in there, LSU shouldn’t be a problem. I do know that last year, a lot of people found out between the last week of February and the first two weeks of March.
have not heard back yet.
@Mkaylaj you hear anything back yet? Anxiously waiting. I feel like we are both stressing for nothing with acceptances to Loyola there’s a low percentage chance we are declined. Let me know though
@jakepaluba12 Will do! I hope so. It would be so cool if I saw you guys on campus. When did you apply again?
@Mkaylaj i applied fully on January 22nd. I mean following the 6-8 week estimated wait time I’m still right on target but I really wish I would receive an answer sooner.
@jakepaluba12 I applied on December 14-15th. I thought I would have heard by now, but I’m guessing they may be a little behind. I’m not sure. I hope the long wait doesn’t mean anything negative.
LSU received all my documents on the 11th of January. The admissions office told me that 90% of applications are decided by March. Fingers crossed!
@Mkaylaj my daughter applied november 11 and just got her acceptance last week. Good luck- I know you will get in but keep us posted. Fingers crossed for y’all !
@jm1983 Oh wow! Thank you so much for the support!
@Mkaylaj I have been checking this post periodically to see if LSU accepted you yet. I can’t wait to see your post that says you are accepted!!! In case you didn’t know, LSU is ranked 153 by US News, while Loyola is ranked 197. According to the common data sets released by both schools, stats for entering freshman at LSU are actually higher than Loyola’s. I’m just throwing that out there for those who may be researching schools, because Loyola is considerably more expensive than LSU.
@somemomma Thank you so much! It really means a lot.
Well guys there’s a 90% chance we hear back by this Friday so I am hoping for the best for everyone. Geaux tigers. To make anyone a little less worried the more people I talk to the more I get the feeling anything above a 2.8-2.9 plus a 1000 SAT will get you accepted so calm the nerves.
LSU received all the required documents on the 11th of January. 20 ACT. 2.45 GPA.
I go to one of the top public high schools in Michigan. Explained in my personal statement why my grades and test scores are low.

Do I have a chance. I am a first generation college student. My parents for some reason are the only non- college graduates in each of their families.
My friend applied a day after me and her grandmother called admissions just now. They were told that at this point it’s looking like it’s going to be a couple more weeks and that 90% of applicants will find out in March. It keeps getting pushed back and my anxiety through the roof. @jakepaluba12 I also have been getting that vibe, but you don’t know until you know. Hopefully they start pushing out decision this week! Geaux Tigers! ???
Can someone respond to my comment?
@Schubby1 Absolutely. LSU isn’t a very hard school to get into. 2.45 and 20 ACT is for sure below their cut off but that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get accepted you may have an interview or something like that. Are you in state? I think with a good recommendation letter you should be okay. Fill out the additional questions on the portal. I heard you get a better chance to get accepted if you do that. Good luck and Geaux tigers!
