It is my understanding when you get your package in the mail, it will have all the financial info included…so probably a week or so.
OOS NY D
90UW avg 27act
Applied early Oct.
Accepted yesterday
Thank you!
From earlier thread, it looks like merit aid award letters didn’t go out until well after admissions letters. (Class of 2023, one admitted late October and got merit aid letter during the Christmas holidays.) Maybe soon?? There is nothing on the portal that we saw about financial aid.
D received purple envelope with merit info in mail today. We are in Baton Rouge. Hopefully others will get them very soon!
I just checked my LSU portal update, and I have been admitted to the Ogden Honors College! Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieee!
There was no email or snail-mail notification from LSU; they just amended the original 11/27 notification. Glad I checked. Still waiting for merit-scholarship notification, but this is a good step in the right direction.
I’m an in state student, double legacy, a 25 ACT and a 4.2 GPA. I applied Oct. 16 and received my admission through my portal on Dec. 17!!! Geaux Tigers! Trust the process!
In state D was accepted to Ogden last week via online portal, about a week and a half after applying… No word on scholarships yet. No admission letter in the mail yet, but did get something from the Honors College. We are super stoked… My girl has been accepted into higher ranked schools, but LSU is her top choice.
From what we’ve seen, students who stick with the Honors Program seem to really enjoy it and find great success. If she can get through undergrad using only the money we saved for her, without taking out loans, at a school we know she loves, I’ll consider that a huge win.
Stats: 32 ACT GPA 3.9 UW, Anyone know how much merit aid this might garner. An admission rep said today that the scholarship calculator on the site is from 2017, and scholarship estimates given on it may not be correct because now they use a more holistic process for giving out merit money. She anticipates my girl will receive more than what the calculator says.
Has anyone received a Stamps Scholarship semifinalist notification yet? Notifications are supposed to come out at the end of this month, and Christmas is almost here. I have yet to hear a thing.
My daughter was super stoked to get a letter in the mail today saying she is a Flagship Scholar. We don’t anticipate her qualifying for Stamps because she only made a 32 on the ACT. Maybe the Stamps letters will go out soon since the Flagship letters have ??? We live within an hour of campus, so maybe oos letters haven’t made it to recipients yet because of the Christmas mail delay???
My son got a letter in the mail today too! (We are in Texas.) He got the Transformation Merit Scholars Nonresident Award ($13,334 per year) plus a Tiger Alumni Legacy Scholarship ($1,668 per year). The net price calculator was correct for him. We’re happy with that!
My daughter got her a letter outlining her scholarship. It was the Texas Excellence Non Resident AWard of 15, 334 per year. I have not researched yet but does LSU have an incentive for Texas residents of any sort?
My parents live in-state now, and they didn’t get anything in the mail. Also, LSU was late adding me to Ogden (I had to email them.), so maybe I was not added to the scholarship pool either. Hmmm…my mind is overthinking this. lol I’m going to try to just go with the flow and not let it consume my holiday. It’s not like LSU is my one all be all school. There are other schools where I have applied, but I love my Tigers!
To SomeMomma…
My son received the Flagship Scholar Non Resident award in the mail a few days ago. It was the same purple envelope - we thought it was a Christmas card, but it was a nice surprise to see the ~ $100k + 4 year offer. We also thought this was out of reach, since his ACT was a 32 and therefore, has focused on 2 other schools, GT and AU.
I called the Admissions department, to somewhat verify, and she indicated that students who applied early were given the upmost scholarship offers consideration (he completed the Common App in/on Oct 12th). DS received admission letter in late October w/ acceptance to Ogden HC w/ a “nice” $18k scholarship.
This makes things very interesting. He is 5 of 5 on acceptances. We live in GA and waiting on GT offer in early January.
For him, LSU Flagship is w/in $1k of GT instate.
Great to hear about all the acceptances throughout.
I emailed the Coordinator of Honorific Scholarships at LSU a few hours ago, but I’m sure she’s long gone on holiday break. Hopefully I’ll find out something within the next couple of weeks. I still have a few more supplemental essays to write, so I’ll been working and writing through the new year. Ho! Ho! Ho!
We got a merit letter in the mail yesterday. It was quite disappointing. Hoping he gets into honors with additional money and that financial aid is sent separately.
My daughter received the purple envelope today. Academic Scholar Nonresident Award/total package was $81,500. We are in NOVA (Fairfax County). She has a 31 ACT and a 4.2 weighted GPA. I think that is all they take into account for scholarships. We are from LA originally and I think she applied to make her dad happy, but we are seriously going to consider now. She has had 5 acceptances (UNCW, UofSC, A&M, Tampa and LSU) and LSU was her fall back, but now may give #1 UofSC a run for their money. Good luck to everyone.
@afbratmama - Congratulations to your daughter. That’s a nice aid package. I’m still waiting. Don’t know when or if I’ll find out anything soon.
Thank you. My daughter applied in 25 and was accepted on Oct 29. She had her transcript and scores sent over before so her acceptance letter included the Ogden Honors college info. Maybe they are starting from the first applications and moving through. She got almost to the penny what the calculator said. It was off a Presidential Student Aid job. Guessing that’s merit based too. We don’t qualify for financial aid.
We were shocked this came in. Uof SC doesn’t tell until mid-March and A&M is Feb.
I’m sure they will get to yours in time. ?? For you.
My daughter received two purple envelopes on the 24th…one was the OOS Flagship Scholarship 100,000+ four years, and the other envelope had the OOS Academic Scholarship at 18,000+ per year for four years. We are confused, as this is our first child going to college and we are not sure why we received two different scholarship offers. Can they be stacked? Anyone have any insight into this? They gave us a number to call for questions, but with the holidays, we are in limbo. Thanks for any help in advance!
