LSU Application Portal

Admissions said they would respond in order of applications. Your daughter applied early August…we applied late August…maybe he will hear soon!

I had one daughter apply mid Sept and one Late Sept/early Oct . The one that applied later already heard and the one that applied early Sept still hasn’t.

@2019stu Good to know! That is not what admissions told me, but they also told me decisions would go out Oct 1, then Oct 15, then “end of October”! LSU is my son’s first choice…his 2nd and 3rd choice have already begun to accept residence life deposits, so we are getting anxious.

I just checked the portal and there is no change…just the three checks saying all has been received back in August.

Yeah same with me… no change. I applied about a month ago so we’ll see. Hopefully I know by November!

@2019stu @alipel You both found out by checking the portal or did you get an email first?

She received an email saying her admissions portal had been updated with link that directed her to portal with acceptance letter. I would imagine you could go directly to the portal and see the update too.

@laxmom2000 Same for my D she got an email saying there was an update and a link to portal

Update: We visited with an admissions counselor on campus yesterday. We were told the first batch of acceptances was a relatively small amount of students. They could not tell me any definite answers other than saying my son’s application was in the second phase of review…with the committee. She could not tell me when the committee will release their second wave of decisions. She explained the holistic application process is much more time consuming, which I can understand. His #2 choice is already accepting residence life deposits, so we went ahead and paid that…just in case. Our visit was informative and fun…he loved tailgating and the game…but our meeting with financial aid was eye-opening for him. He realized that out of state tuition may not be “worth it” for him in the long run.

My two D’s went to a college fair last week and the LSU rep said decisions would be starting about mid Nov. That same night was when my one daughter rec’d her acceptance. My other D still waiting to hear. D that was accepted had a much higher ACT score.

Do they give honors and scholarship information with the acceptance? I’m way above the cutoff for honors and was hoping to be invited to the Stamps interview but I’m not sure how that works.

@2019stu My son had the same observation…the students who were accepted at his school were top 5% with exceptionally high SAT scores. I’d bet those who were clear-cut acceptances went out first. And, I’ve heard varying info on their acceptance dates…from Oct 1, Oct 15, to "no clear date. It’s understandable that the holistic review will take longer, so I’ll just hold off and try to be patient.

That’s scary haha. I guess I can only wait and see.

My daughter that was accepted applied to the honors college but nothing indicated about that from her acceptance. She definitely is above the cutoffs. Haven’t really yet pursued because it is not her top choice.

My daughter also applied to Ogden. I believe that I saw on the Ogden website that students will be notified of their Honors College admission status beginning in November and on a rolling basis thereafter.

Are any of y’all instate?

We are La residents!!

Ahh I wonder if that has to do with anything. It may not but never know. I’m from Texas but have been an LSU fan my whole life.

@lsufan4301 I agree that I don’t think you’ll figure out the system!!! My daughter’s boyfriend had pretty much the same stats and also received his acceptance. Her best friend with same stats has not heard yet!!! The only difference we can figure is some dates of submitted materials might have been different. Mainly rec letter of her friend was submitted later.

High School Transcript received 10/02/18
Letter of Recommendation received 10/23/18
Accepted - sometime between yesterday afternoon and this AM 10/27/18

The funny thing is we think the guidance counselor sent the recommendation, because she was doing a mass submission for D19 in all her colleges in the Common App. When D told her APES teacher thank you, he said he didn’t send her LOR yet.

Now hoping for Honors College…
