LSU honors v. TAMU petroleum engineering?

Hello all, I have been accepted into LSU's honors program as well as Texas A&M. Both for petroleum engineering. I was wondering which option seems better? I've heard both school's programs are great for PETE, but I want to know more about the schools themselves. I love in GA and have never been to either. I am looking for a school that has great academics as well as a fun student life. Decent living space. An involved student body. Traditions. Of the two, which would you guys think would be better for me? Thanks in advance!

I’d say A&M edges out LSU in terms of academics, even in engineering. However, the campus cultures at both schools are not too different (I’ visited both in middle school) and, as you probably know, sports are a huge deal at both schools. I’m making an assumption, but being from Georgia, you’d probably get along fine at either. Also, you’d probably land a great PetE job coming out of either university since they’re both near the coast.

Go to whichever one you can best afford, but if there little cost discrepancy, I recommend A&M.

Thank you for the opinion  any other thoughts?

Being a PetEng major who’s NOT from either of these universities I’ve noticed aggies tend to find fellow aggies all over the place in the oil industry. Half the interns during my last summer were from A&M.

Can’t speak to LSU, but A&M is a small, self contained college town. There is plenty to do there, but it is not in a big city, and Houston and Austin are a little way away. It is also conservative culturally and politically, if that makes a difference. There are lots of distinct traditions at A&M, love them or hate them. Aggies are quite passionate about their school. DK if LSU grads are as much so.
