LSU Housing: Are the Residential Colleges Worth it?

I am an incoming bio major at LSU and this means that the residential option for me is highland hall. I haven’t toured it, but I have seen Cypress Hall and am in love with it (even though the location is less ideal than highland). I am also aware that students in Highland Hall may have to move to Evangeline Hall in the spring? I don’t know much about this, though. Is staying in your major’s residential hall actually worth it, or is it more important to choose a hall that you are comfortable in? I would love advice from people who have stayed from any dorm at LSU:)

Highland is super OLD. I lived there for BIOS and it was an absolute joke. If you enjoy water pressure like a water hose, mold and a deteriorating dorm for $1,000 more be my guest. You are really paying for the convenience of having your classes downstairs and that’s all

Thank you, I was so worried about the quality of highland! I had a feeling that residential college would not be essential to having a good gpa. Now that you’ve confirmed my suspicion that highland is horrible, do you have any dorms that you would recommend?
