LSU awards scholarships in the form of cash awards, tuition and nonresident fee exemptions, room and board scholarships, and employment opportunities to students meeting certain academic qualifications. Most of the scholarship programs are competitive and are awarded based on the following two components:

Standardized test scores. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid uses the highest composite ACT score or combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score from a single test on record with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for scholarship consideration.

A six-semester, weighted high-school GPA. The GPA used for scholarship consideration is calculated based on the core courses required for admission to LSU. Please note this GPA may differ from the GPA listed on the high-school transcript. The GPA is weighted meaning additional weight is given to courses designated as Honors, AP, or IB.

The last part is interesting to me. Are they saying that LSU goes on weighted gpas instead of unweighted? And also for scholarships, cabn you sumbit alternate sat and act scores different from those you originally submitted at a later date if they are higher? will they be considered?

-3.43 GPA UW
-class rank number 57 of 787; Top 8%
-several honors classes
-entire schedule of AP classes
-1170 math and reading SAT; 1720 total (retaking)
-havent taken act yet

LSU is Louisiana State University
-several ECs and volunteer hours/work

BTW…apply now for best scholarship consideration.

***November 15th is the priority date for full consideration for all entering freshmen scholarships awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid. Students who wish to be fully considered must be admitted by this date **to be guaranteed consideration. Students admitted after this date may be considered for any scholarships that are still available at that time. *

M2CK is talking about the table of all LSU scholarships that is usually found on their financial aid site. At the moment the following appears:

“The University is currently evaluating all entering freshman, transfer and international student scholarship programs for undergraduates entering LSU beginning Summer 2011. We anticipate the details will be finalized by late Summer 2010. Our office will post all of the scholarship information to our website once finalized.”

We will have to wait and see if budget cuts have forced them to substantially change the award requirements for their scholarships.

LSU used to have a webpage with a chart (grid) of what students needed for various scholarships. It may still be there, but I can’t find it today.

For instance…the chart indicated…

LSU automatic scholarships for non-residents, minimum requirements:

Golden Oaks Award:
ACT 30, SAT 1330, GPA 3.0 = exemption from full tuition and fees

Tiger Scholars:
ACT 26, SAT 1170, GPA 3.0 = exemption from 1/2 of nonresident tuition and fees
ACT 28, SAT 1250, GPA 3.0 = exemption from nonresident tuition and fees

If these scholarships still exist, then with your current stats, you would pay tuition plus 1/2 of the OOS tuition/fees, plus room, board, books, etc.

However, I don’t know if these still exist. you can email the scholarship office and ask. And, ask for the link.

im not sure what they will pay but they are the type of parents who will do whatever is necessary for me to go to the school of my choice. i saw them disappear…i believe they are re-evaluating the criteria.
