LSU vs. Auburn

I am a senior in High school trying to decide whether I want to attend Auburn or LSU next fall. I grew up an LSU fan with both my grandparents and parents attending the university. I have tons of friends and family who attend LSU and I am very familiar with the campus and the social scene. I would have immediately chosen to go there but there has been talk of budget cuts and slacking academic programs (i.e. student professors). I am aware that LSU can provide the classes for me to become successful and get into med. school or become an engineer, but, will it provide the best possibilities to do so? I have recently become interested in Auburn because of its well renowned academics and funding. I have been accepted to both colleges as well as their honors colleges and have received scholarships from both. Would going to Auburn be a "game changer" and increase my possibilities to become successful? Or, are the two school similar in academic opportunities and it is purely based off determination and hard work?

Won’t make a difference either way. they’re both big state schools.

Are you instate for either? If so, which one?

How much does each cost and how much merit did you get from each school?

How is Auburn well renowned for funding???

I am out of state for both schools and have received 30k scholarships to both. From what I’ve been told, Auburn has more funding for research and seems to have much more money for construction due to their numerous new buildings on campus.

Who told you that Auburn has “renowned academics and funding” compared to LSU?

Auburn and LSU are pretty equally ranked. And no, it certainly would not be a “game changer” to attend Auburn over LSU.

(1) If one is significantly cheaper than the other after accounting for merit aid/scholarships, go to that one.

(2) If the costs are similar, or if one is only slightly more expensive than the other, then visit and go to the one you like more.

But on academics and funding, they are pretty much the same.

what I am trying to say is would auburn being a more difficult college to get into make my resume more creditable when I graduate and apply for med. school?

No. Auburn and LSU are pretty equally ranked and considered pretty much equal in terms of prestige. Auburn is not a more difficult college to get into, and it will not make your resume seem more credible for med school.

Seriously, go to (1) the cheaper one if there is a significant difference; or (2) the one you think is a better fit if the costs are nearly the same.

On academics, prestige, etc, they are equal.
