Lsu.....will i get in?? Any help, any advice, anything!

I am a rising senior go to a private high school IN BATON ROUGE....I have a 3.09 ( 3.1 ) GPA and I took the ACT 3 times....the first two times I received a 20. I enrolled in Princeton Review course and my score went up to a 21. I am completely WORN OUT on the ACT. I know I need a 22, but I just don't know. I am getting a recommendation from my English teacher, and an thinking about writing an essay. I know that LSU doesn't require those, but I obviously need all the help I can get. A few extracurricular activities, and relatives who are alumi.

ANY ADVICE? Chance?
I would greatly appreciate ANY ADVICE...this has been worrying me for MONTHS now as senior year approaches.

who says u need a 22? I’d think you could get in there with that.

you need a 3.0 and a 22. stated on their website. :frowning: i live in baton rouge ann my high school gives out brochures on LSU so…yeah I don’t know if a 22 is a cutoff and anyone below is rejected

have you tried the SAT?

what’s the 2491 in ur name referencing? (my bday is 2-4-91 :D)

I haven’t tried it…and I am not going to haha! I hope i’ll maybe get in?

Yes- mine is Feb. 4th

Jordan2491- I think you could apply and get in. Since you’re instate, they would most likely accept you. I have a few case scenarios of where I heard someone not having a 22ACT getting into LSU:

*There was a 2008 valedictorian from my school who got accepted in, but she only a 20 on the ACT.
*I have another friend who was accepted who had a 21 on the ACT, but a 3.7 GPA
*My third friend got accepted to LSU with a 3.3 GPA and a 22 on the ACT.

My best advice for you is to take the ACT again in October and December. Study the rest of the summer for the ACT and take as many practice tests as you can. Also, raise your GPA too. You will have a better chance of being accepted into LSU if you have a higher GPA. LSU is kind to students who work hard in the classroom, but are horrible test takers. Best of luck to you.

Thanks. I also know of this thing LSU does where if you are on the borderline, they accept you but you start classes during the summer and then if you do well on those you start in the fall. My counselor said they never tell them what the cutoff is for that, but she said it depends on room left.

Thanks, but I am was going to apply in August…should I wait?

I think you could apply in August and be accepted in. If you’re interested on living on campus next year, it’s better to apply early. You get to choose housing first. However, if you’re commuting, then you can apply whenever. Just make sure you apply before November 15th for scholarship consideration.

there is a new policy this year. you can’t apply for housing until you are actually accepted! It is new for Fall 2010…I think if I apply in August I’ll have to do the summer classes then start in the fall maybe…but yeah I plan on living on campus!

I guess you realize how close you are to getting accepted. Another thing you should consider is gpa is based on core subjects. You’re so close that you probably won’t get an answer until mid-term. That’s how close you are. Get your act and grades up. You may find yourself disappointed. I know somebody with higher scores than you that didn’t find out until late January. And LSU was that person’s only choice.

It’s possible with your stats, but it’s getting more selective as each year passes, so you just don’t know.

Maybe try the SAT? Perhaps you are better suited for that style of test and LSU as all schools accept both.

You can get in. I talked to an LSU rep a week ago about this. As long as you have the other requirements, including the subscores, its very possible to get in. The rep told me that the 22 is just a guarenteed accecptance. Its very possible to get in! Good Luckk!
