Lums entry tests

Alot of people must be applying to lums here so lets start a discussion about how to prepare for the two entry tests: SSE and LACT. Any queries concerning the tests will be answered.

So, mine first. How should I prepare the vocabulary for the lcat? I went to the sat section on this site and a lot of users there recommend the book 'Direct hits'. Will this book prep me for the test? Is it good enough?

P.s: I have noticed here that not many people reply to posts relating to Pakistani universities so please if you are applying, or you knew anybody who went through this process, please do post! This forum can help us prepare better and clear our doubts! So pls ^.^

I used direct hits for SAT and yes its amazing… its helped me so well in my test, but i dont know if you have to cram vocab for lums or not

Thank you BHhazy. Cramming is necessary if you want to do well in CR. Still hoping more people will make the best out of this forum.

Word Smart 1 <---- Gold. I’m not giving the LCAT and am just going to apply with my SAT.

Okay i’ll look into that. Really? Can you do that?

Yes =P but only if your score is high enough to stand out. But, I believe, Pakistanis can only submit the SAT as a substitute for the LCAT if the score is above 2100. Also, I love your name Baryani ^^ My favorite food!

Oooh I didn’t know that. I would’ve given it too then.
Yeah mine too! :D

Although lums has clearly mentioned on their site that only international applicants are exempted from the test. :/

I’m aslo giving LCAT.Since,I’m Fsc student I’m having so much problem related to maths. Please help me.

^ giving LCAT too xD bah. Just found out that all applicants have to give it this year. For math, I have heard that ‘Noah’s Bible’ (this is a math book o.o) and the normal SAT past papers are good.

Lcat is much tougher than sat though.

@Alto lime
Have to give it this year???
And hope book-seller won’t hand-over me some sort of bible! :3

@ShadysGirl by that I mean: till last year, all applicants could submit the SAT instead of the LCAT. Not anymore.

@Baryani I have heard differently. Some of my close friends, who have given the SAT, state that the English sections in the LCAT are about four times easier than the SAT’s. They do, however, admit that the math is harder than the SAT’s.

Can our LUMS teacher evaluations be by O-level teachers?

Hi Guys,
I am also applying to LUMS this year for Electrical Engineering. So, I have to give SSE entry test. Anyone here has an idea for how to prepare for the test?

@autolime. Oh yes, I was talking about math too. And you’re right, English is easier. But honestly I’m scared of math.

@globalstudent17, for physics and chemistry a level concepts are sufficient. For math you should prepare from any sat book…

Can anybody tell me whether improving paragraphs come in lcat?

Hellooooooooooooooooooooo!

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
