LUMS/Georgetown Q/NUS

Hello, everyone. After being denied admissions NYUAD, Yale-NUS and a few universities in the US, I have to selected between LUMS, Georgetown SFS Qatar and NUS (assuming I get into NUS).

I recently had the opportunity to visit Georgetown's campus in Qatar, and I have to say that it was much better than what I expected it to be. I still have a few reservations about going to Georgetown but after making the trip, I am more inclined towards going to Georgetown for now. The only catch over there is the financial aid package. They award financial aid in the form of zero-interest loans which can be paid back by working in Doha for a period between 1-6 years. I am fortunate enough to have received a scholarship grant of $20,000, which means that if my parents contribute a few thousand dollar per year and I make around 4-5K per year by enrolling in a work study program, I can expect to be obliged to work for around 2-3 years. I do intend to go to grad school, so I need to take that into consideration as well.

I would appreciate if any one of you could offer me some advice. I am a prospective Econ major.

Hey!
I would definitely advice you to move to NUS (If you are in). Its well ranked and established as compare to Georgetown Qatar. I really don’t want you to study at LUMS if you have a chance of studying abroad (you will realize this later). If you didn’t make into NUS (just in case) so Georgetown Qatar is amazing option. Also you want to go to a grad school so NUS or Georgetown Qatar will boost your chances by providing you an International exposure. Good luck

Why isint it advisable to study at lums over a forign university?
Actually the thing is, im thinking of attending lums over uiuc mainly because uiuc will cost me about 50 lakh a year. Although my parents say they can afford my attendance there i just dont think an undergrad degree is worth 2 crore. Do you think i should attend uiuc nevertheless?

Basically i am not against LUMS (Its a marvelous uni obviously). I just want you to consult with students who are studying abroad. Believe me its extremely didactic experience and you will learn alot. In @junaid123 case i advised him to choose GUQ is because he said he has received some grants and he can easily cover rest of the cost of attendance. I can’t say it is worth study for a degree costing 2 crore but if i was you and my parents can afford it easily then definitely no second thoughts and i would be at Illinois U this fall :D

Ok now im having second thoughts again. Thanks for the advise:)
