^so true hotpiece. You know a whole bunch of problems in the world can be traced back and blamed on white people. Did you know that? It's crazy!

yea he does seem to be somewhat of one. lol The argument is lost. White South Africans are not African. Most mixed people are seen as Black. Mariah Carey looks as white as Britney. If you are white then you can't be black on an application because that is lying and you will be caught and punished.

aye, no insulting because i didn't insult you. I just wantedd you to explain what you meant......The word "Troll" on CC is defintely over-rated and lame. I'd expect a better word from a harvard student. Or am I being too demanding?

&& of course I know that that was the history of whites. But if you wasn't part of that history then theres nothing to be ashamed of. but oh well its there choice and beliefs.

how so? you can't possibly be annoyed if someone doesn't agree with your views. but w/e
That's not why I'm annoyed. You are completely entitled to your own ideas. It's just that sometimes it seems like you are purposely trying to start arguments. When Northstarmom discussed standardized testing and how everyone indicates race on this test, you extrapolated that she was commenting on racial intelligence as shown in standardized tests. When TrackBabi said that Mariah Carey was looks as white as Britney Spears but people consider her black, you replied to the most asinine part of her statement. I just really thought you were posting just to push people's buttons.

This is where stereotyping comes to play
Where do stereotypes come into play? Just because my cousins don't want to be associated with a group that has historically been the most oppressive race in the world and has continued that (in their experience) by ostracizing them, they are stereotyping?

when Northstarmom stated what she said I asked it in question form. meaning i was trying to find answers. After i gave opinions to what trackbabi said I then said "Thats not the point" meaning its not that serious anyway but you went ahead and commented on it.

"this is where sterotyping comes to play"

what i said has nothing to do with any of your relatives and was not directed to them. People will eventually stereotype whites because of what theyw ere thought of doing. Just the same way they stereotype blacks for being low-class

now you're starting to annoy me. Ok Gooodbye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [last post]

Well this sucks, no loop holes for me =( 100% indian. Maybe one of my great great ancestors had a relation with some URM thennnnnnnnn i am made.

The bottom line is that whether you are not considered a URM in college admissions is determined solely by the college in question. In fact, it may vary from college to college, especially if they are in different geographic areas. So the answer to this question is to just ask the college. And get the name of the person you're asking just in case they were wrong so you don't get in trouble by marking the wrong box.

The ethics of who should get to say that they are a URM is different from whether a person could actually get in trouble for saying that they are a URM. It's not an issue that was relevant to me so I'm not completely sure about this, but I've heard that if you're 1/8 or 1/16 that is enough.

i don't know why we're arguing. what you choose to put as your race on a college app is your business. end of story.
and racial diversity isn't the only type of diversity that colleges want, so putting you're black won't necessarily help you more than say being from north dakota or practicing a different religion or having a passion for electronic music.
can't we all just get along?

Seriously, drop the whole "white people are historically the most evil race on the face of the earth" bit. Do you think that if Africa had been as powerful as Europe in the in past, that they would have played "nice guy"? All people are just as inherently flawed, the only reason that Europe was the most "oppressive" is because they had the power to do so, not because they were white.

@ TrackBabi17, what? You think that you're being any less racist than a white guy by saying veiled insults like "and it's hardly a stereotype...", if a white guy said something like that, you'd probably have pounced down his throat. I can't stand these double standards where minorities are allowed to be borderline racist or even full on racist and white people can't be allowed the smallest imagined slight because of their "history of evilness."

Ignorance can be a B**** sometimes; can't it?
No one can be a color! You want to know why "Back" and "White" is considered derogatory troll? because some people are offended by it and since thats the case I try to use the proper term so it won't offend any body.....

But the point is, Africa didn't have that power. Sure if they did they might have been as oppressive as the Europeans, but history didn't play out that way. And, no one said that Europeans were so evil because they were white. I don't think of race as essentialist (i.e. certain races have certain traits). So, being white doesn't make you evil.

And So Authentic, the proper term is not African Americans. The only people that are African American are people that were descendents of Africans living in America. What do you call a black person living in France?
