I deffinatley dont recommend this, but i was just wondering if adcoms would know if you just lied on ur app?? I mean UVa looks at the app holistically right? So how would they know if you really were, lets say President of National Honor Society?

haha...thats actually a really good question...I never thought about that...anyone know the answer??

Lying on the app is a violation of the honor code. If caught, you'd face a single-sanction punishment, aka expulsion from UVA.

That sounds appropriate...

the better question is: why would you ever want to lie on your app to begin with?

lying about being an officer in a national organization like nhs is really bad because it is much easier to find out who the officers are as opposed to finding out who the officers of a local school club are. Either way i wouldn't risk it.

Either way it's not worth it because ECs count for far less than academics/essays/recs.

Um, sorry, lying on your application is outright dumb. U.Va. doesn't get rid of it, and if they ever checked, no matter how long you'd been out of school, you could lose your degree. Additionally, as Cavalier302 noted, it's not going to contribute significantly to your application.
