Anyone know anything about it? Dorm life, course difficulty, etc.?

Hi,
When my S and I were at the ADS weekend, we spoke to a number of admissions people and learned a bit about Lyman Briggs. The first thing was that it is mostly pre-med students, which surprised me because the description of the program on the website sounded much more wide-ranging, like that all the math and science disciplines were part of it. Anyway, my S is in Lyman Briggs because we are trying to make an enormous school feel smaller - he still isn't sure he'll go there, though.

Also, one counselor admitted that even though classes are indeed taught in Holmes Hall, they are mostly introductory, and if your child has a lot of AP credits coming in they might not have any classes there.

It seems that Holmes is really far away from the center of campus, which might be a slight drawback. But I've heard the bus system is very good, and I'll send my S with a bike if he winds up there.
Good luck with your decision making!

Thank you for the info. D and I are visiting on the 10th and will get more insight. She is still deciding, too... But she will be on a pre-med track, at least to start.

I myself have interest in lyman briggs as a pre-med major. Though my understanding of lyman briggs, all classes are taught in holmes. I sorta see that as a disadvantage, in a way it takes part of the college experience. Making Holmes more like your new high shool.

can you only get into the program as in an incoming freshman?
can i apply sophomore year? or is it only through the incoming freshman application?
