<p>Basics:
Female from New York City. I go to one of those specialized high schools that you have to take a test to get in. It’s ranked third out of eight schools in total. The school is very very very VERY small and very competitive. Less than 100 kids in my graduating class of 2010
It’s a science school but I’m not planning on majoring in anything science related in college.</p>
<p>Stats:
GPA: low around 87.00%
SAT (first time): CR-690 M-710 W-710 (12 Essay)
SAT II:
Biology: 660 US History: 670</p>
<p>Courseload
ALL CLASSES HONORS OR AP: downward trend but the course load increases significantly and becomes more difficult each year.
AP Bio and AP US - 4 and 3 (which is good compared to how i did in the class)
Currently taking AP Environmental Science and AP Literature.</p>
<p>ECs
-Part of the Student Senate for the March of Dimes (very well known, national charity organization)
-Key Club (all four years of high school)
-Volunteered at a daycare (Went every school break i had)
----last summer, worked as a teachers assistant at daycare, it was what made me decide that i wanted to be a teacher. wrote a heartfelt statement about it on my common app.
-Volunteered at a nursing home (two years of high school)
-Math Team (three years of high school)
-School Orchestra (for two years, demanding school work made it hard to take orchestra)
-Play the piano, violin, flute, guitar
-Varsity Tennis (for three years)
-Took a Chemistry and Adv Algebra College Course at City College of New York in summer after freshman year. - didnt do very well but it was challenging and learned a lot. put that on my common app too
-Took an Architecture Course for 6 credits at City College of New York in summer after -sophmore year. (Yeah, really random but i was exploring possible career choices and shows my big interest in art. although i like art i have no intention of pursuing it as a career option)- Got an A.</p>
<p>I’m applying RD.
So I realize that Boston College will be a reach for me. But I was wondering if applying to the school of education will help me in anyway. I want to know if its less competitive to get into or harder to get into.
I’ve made it very clear and made it obvious that I had a strong interest in education</p>
