M 408K or M 408L?

Ok, so here's my situation...

I'm a new student that just transferred in... From high school. Long story short, UT made me apply as a transfer student to do the amount of dual credits I had. I originally applied to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, but I'm now in Undergraduate Studies. I've finished my first year up, except for a GOV course and UGS, so besides those courses, I'm registered to take Math 408L (Integral Calculus) this semester, along with Physics 303K (Engineering Physics I). I have a problem, though. Because of a Calculus I credit that transferred in, they're allowing me to take 408L instead of 408K, which I'm a bit nervous about. My high school Calculus was not a very good course... I didn't learn much of anything, as the teacher explained everything in a way that was tailored to the tests and did not give us an understanding of what Calculus was and how it worked. On top of that, he nearly gave us the answers for the tests, or at least the exact questions (with different numbers anyway), weeks before hand.

All that being said, I've been working hard this summer to teach myself differential calculus using Khan Academy. Learning the material is going fine so far, but I'm nervous that maybe it isn't enough. ...I mean Khan Academy seems to cover everything (limits, derivatives, differentiation, integrals, and vector calculus), but is this going to be enough to keep me afloat in Integral Calculus at UT? I guess I'm just wondering if there's anything specific or special I might miss having not taken a university Calculus I/Diff course. I'm watching about 8 (sometimes more) 10 minute videos a day right now and plan to finish nearly all of the calculus Khan Academy offers, except maybe for videos on integration. I might not touch on that yet unless I still have time before classes start. ...or unless I find time while they're starting, just to get ahead.

I haven't exactly talked to my UGS advisor about this yet, but the UGS department has told me that if I don't take 408L this semester, it'll postpone my acceptance into the engineering department by 3 semesters instead of 2, as I have to have all three maths (plus 24 credits at the university)... Plus, I won't be able to take Engineering Physics I this semester either, as it requires concurrent enrollment in 408L.

Any advice would be helpful. I AM learning the math right now. I've been working on it for a month so far. Should I not worry about this too much, given I'm studying what I've missed?

Ok… So maybe that’s too much. Could someone just tell me if self studying to learn Differential Calculus is a good idea? …if it saves me a semester of waiting to get in my desired department? …otherwise, I’ve been told I’ll have to take random electives for 3 semesters… Wasting over $13,000 in tuition on classes that don’t apply to my major.

Take ALEKS and you’ll figure out your level. You can try to take Math 408C based on ALEKS score

Hm… That’s a good idea. They told me I didn’t need to take the ALEKS test because of my credit, but I think I might would rather take it… I’m gonna look into that.
