Hey I'm just wondering about the M&T program, and Wharton. I know it's really competitive, but I was hoping to get an admit % rate if anyone knows it. I've kind of heard that they are looking for amazing stuff on top of near PERFECT SAT scores and everything. The only kid who got in to Wharton (which is easier? than M&T to get into) from my school had 2370 and amazing grades.

Anyways I'm really just asking- as many colleges claim they do, could admissions be based on "fit" for the program- clear desire to combine engineering and business- to a kid with a 1420/2210 SAT? Because I've really heard that it's impossible to get into M&T/Wharton without 1500+/2300.

From speaking with other dual-degrees on campus, M&T is the most competitive to get into. I've heard the acceptance rate is around 2%. Wharton has an overall acceptance rate of about 10 (when averaging the higher ED rate-15ish with the lower regular rate-somewhere around 7). Also remember that less than 50 people are in M&T. This year I think the number of freshman is closer to 40.

I have been granted admittance to both Penn’s M&T program as well as Cornell’s school of Engineering.

I am a math and science guy. But I do not want to have a profession in Engineering. My plan is Business with an Engineering background. What I am struggling with is I am not sure if it is better to have an engineering background from a good engineering school like cornell, then go to grad school for Business. OR should i go to Penn for a lesser engineering program, but a potential ability to cruise right from bachelors into WHARTON business MBA program?

Anyone know what SAT II’s would be suitable for applying to the M&T program? Obviously math and a science (Physics?). Also is there any way to ED M&T but apply to Wharton regularly?

In the common app, select M&T as first choice program early decision. Select Wharton as your second choice. A pop up box will ask, “Do you want to be considered for Early Decision at your second choice program?” Select no and you will be considered for regular decision if you are rejected at M&T. Good luck! I am applying now, but computer engineering second choice.
