so i've been keeping up with which classes are open and close and waitlisted

i got everything i wanted except for m 408m

yesterday, everything was waitlisted and 3 sections(no teacher was listed) were closed

orientation rolled by today for me
and everything was still waitlisted and 3 were still closed
i signed up for 408d in the same time slot just in case...but man it would suck to redo sequences and series all over again, I'd prefer to just move onto multivariable

I put myself on the waitlist for 2 of gilbert's classes(408m) and I guess now I have constantly check to see when the 3 sections that are "closed" open, so I can register for it?

i am 23/25 on a list
and 28/31 on the other...

what are my chances of getting in come august 15th-ish?
or am I just going to have to bet on the fact that I can get into one of those 3 "closed" sections (hopefully they're not restricted either??)

It’s good that you at least got into M 408D if all else fails. Have you tried all of the different waitlists? Gilbert, I remember, is a popular proffessor. My guess is that his waitlist would have more people than some of the other waitlists. I think you have almost no chance to get in your current two waitlists. Were you good at sequences and series? If so, you might not mind blowing off the first portion of the class. If not, well, there is plenty of free math tutoring available for lower division math courses. Most people in M 408D find sequences and series the hardest.

Edit: The ‘closed’ sections likely have a full waitlist.

i made an a in calc 2 at my cc

the 3rd test which was sequences and series was rough

it was my roughest and lowest test grade at 87

i made 93+ on my other 3 tests in that class

hm…well at this point i don’t want to lose my spot in the waitlist…i can’t find out

none of luecke’s or rodin’s classes work with the rest of my schedule =( and not to mention even those are waitlisted, if i wanted to even put myself in those classes i’d probably have to waitlist other sections for ochem and engr phys

hmmm what to do…

surely everything can’t be full?..

i think the day after tuition is due a lot of classes open up. I think if you don’t pay your tuition you loose your spot. My son couldn’t get into any calculus class until after that date but it all worked out.

tuition was due today im assuming people got auto dropped for not paying

i only moved about 5 spots on my waitlists for 408m

im still 17/31 on one list
and 18/34 on another

I don’t think that you will get either of those. I think it is possible that they could open up a new section for M 408M. I couldn’t get my discrete math class during this past registration and then they added a new section and I was able to get it. However, this was a few months ago earlier in registration and the class size was considerably smaller than the one that you are trying to get which both suggest that it’s not likely that a class would open up.

there are 3 408m listed that are closed not waitlisted…so I hope those open during add drop time

i really do not want to do sequences and series again! =(

When a waitlist is entirely full, the class will switched to “closed.” Some classes do not have waitlists at all so they are either open or closed. If other sections of M 408M have waitlists, then I think that all M 408M sections would have waitlists. The classes that are closed are likely full on the waitlist.

well the three closed 408m classes just got cancelled…everything else is waitlisted

thats just great…you’d think if everything got waitlisted…they would add another section

instead they did the opposite…

also gilbert(the most popular and best rated on ratemyprof and myedu from everyone who was listed earlier) isnt teaching any sections anymore
