MA in Public Relations

The burning question I have is: WHY IS PUBLIC RELATIONS SUCH A HOT FIELD?
Evidence: Five degrees employers want the most - Yahoo! Education

I have a BA in History from a top 40 school. I'm wondering if it's worth it to get a master's degree in PR or communications? What are the differences between the two? I know Comm might be more psychologically based and incorporate more social science aspects but I still don't really understand the nitty gritty differences between the two.

I know that with the MA in Comm degree, I have more career choices because Communication degree holders can do HR too, if I'm correct?

Two schools I'm looking into for PR are: USC Annenberg's MA in Strategic PR and GWU's MA in SPR.

For Comm: Uconn, Johns Hopkins

If you have never worked in PR, I highly recommend pursuing an internship or entry-level job in the field before going after an expensive professional master’s degree.
