Congrats to everyone else who got accepted :)

Accepted here in OR!
Any idea when the fin aid letter will come?

@FerrisOddoye Macalester is planning to enroll 490 students according to the acceptance letter. They usually accept close to 2,000 of the 6,000 applicants.

I talked to the financial aid office today and they said we should be receiving them in the mail in a few days.

ACCEPTED!!!

SAT: Reading: 620, Math: 640, Writing: 670
SAT II: U.S. History (think that’s what it was?): 690
GPA: 4.76 weighted, 3.9 unweighted
Rank: N/A
AP Tests: 5 on U.S. History
Essays: kind of stupid looking back on it, but I wrote about feeling serene in my living room and touching on memories I had there with my family
Teacher Recs: From my English and AP U.S. History teachers. One was really bad, the other was probably okay
Counselor Rec: Most likely terrible. I got a new guidance counselor in November so I met her for all of 10 minutes. And she wasn’t very bright.
No hook, no supplementary materials.

Location: Philadelphia, PA
High School Type: Public, 1400 kids

Extracurricular: School musical, select chorus, auditioned repertory company at dance studio, school track, summer camp counselor for 2 years, voice lessons, German exchange

I was SOOOOO excited and shocked that I got in. Looking back at my qualifications, I really have no clue how or why Mac accepted me. BUT I AM SO HAPPY THEY DID. I guess my high GPA and extra-curricular activities outweighed my low SAT scores. I also thought my MAC supplement was very heartfelt and detailed.

**Accepted!!! **

[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Acceptance from Macalester is my first and it took a huge load off my chest. I had been looking blankly at my idle inbox for a few weeks and was close to going insane. The email came in the early morning when I was completely exhausted from a day of YouTube marathon. Couldn’t comprehend it at first. But now I know it’s real and I’m so looking forward to all other incoming decisions.[/ul]
