Mac, I think I love you.

So I got the whole letter bit with the code to access a website to see our application status.

I wasn't expecting much, but I log in and BAM I see all these things listed, with complete information!
They were so kind as to show me what actually was missing, what I had to do for fin.aid as well as the deadlines for FA, and even cared to write down the name of all my recommendation suppliers -- even my additional one -- to show that they've gotten it and the precise date they've gotten it. They've even kindly separately listed my supplementary essay with a short description (school essay) to show that nothing got lost.

For most other schools, it was just like "teacher rec 1 received" kind of thing, and I wouldn't even really know if anything was missing because so many other schools haven't even gone through the apps yet/are not ready to. And supplementary material? They don't even mention it.

Wow. Just gotta say, I'm impressed. Mac has constantly shown a lot of attention and commitment to its prospects. Mac was the only school that sent me detailed descriptions of each of the academic departments I was interested in, as well as letters from the forensics and music program. I'm not even an ED applicant -- just RD, but wow, they really do seem to care about the applicants. I'm very impressed. If they show this much attention towards prospects, I wonder how much they commit to the current students?

I felt the same way. Plus they were the first school to get back to me about receiving and processing my application. All the detailed information really helps too, and it makes me so happy because I love organization. I also love how you don't have to click through a bunch of links to see your application materials, it's just right there.

And as for the info sheets, they sent me all their info sheets not only of the majors I was looking at, but the whole departments of humanities and social science too. I was so happy about all of their programs and I'm excited to hear back for my application decision. They also sent me postcards about every other week, haha.

I know exactly what you mean. :)

I've been impressed by that, too! Even confirmed the supplemental stuff I sent.

I got the letter from the music department as well. When we visited, my mom had the letter with her and found the music chair's office completely by accident. Got me a meeting with him on the spot. So cool.

yep, Macalester has been great in the whole admissions process for me, too!!!

I agree with all of u. I have had the same exact experiences and I am very happy about it

Just have to say...you won't be disappointed as an admitted student or a first year, either! Every question answered helpfully and graciously throughout the spring, summer, and during this, our daughter's first year. For parents reading this thread: fabulous, affirming orientation program for parents during move-in weekend. Love it! Can't say enough about the way Mac supports and is responsive to applicants, enrolled students, parents and families, and the community at large.

I knoooow :D
I love that. makes me so happy.

Wow, I just got the letter with my login info and I am SO IMPRESSED. They listed the name and identity of each of my recs (including an extra one) AND described an extra thing I sent as a supplement.

Wow.

this is just the coolest school ever.....I'm an awe for all of the above reasons.

p.s. I don't go by my first name, and the letter was addressed to my preferred name! First school to do that!

@Shibbolethette

if you are being sarcastic, I'm just letting you know that sarcasm doesn't go through that well online.

No, not at all! Sorry, it does kind of come across that way rereading it. I had literally just checked on my app stuff so I was still excited about it haha

Oh okay. Sorry, I didn't know you were just as genuinely excited as me. :D
