mac in rpi

i am trying to persuade my mother and my sister to let me buy a mac.
what reasons should i provide so that they will give in to my explanation?
apparently, there are several programs in engineering program that don't have mac versions.
my sister claims that mac with windows makes mac even slower.
regarding to the speed of the mac after the installation of windows, can you provide your experience/statistics/data to prove that installing windows on the mac does not slow down the mac?

Our son has both a Mac (with Parallels installed) and the RPI PC at school. We are a Mac family from way back (1984!). It is just convenient to have the RPI PC with installed software and the warranty on it is excellent, even if water gets spilled in keyboard, etc. We’ve known other people to have both a Mac and PC at RPI, but if you just get one, get the RPI PC because of the value of the software on it and warranty. The Mac is still quite useful for other uses (iTunes, etc).
