I currently have a MacBook, but after graduation I'm getting a new laptop for college. I'll be studying Mechanical Engineering, and I want to know any advantages/disadvantages for either.

I personally prefer a MacBook, but I've heard some software might be hard to find if I get one. Would it be smarter for me to just get a PC or will I be okay if I get the MacBook I want?

You may run into a few software issues, but overall it won’t be too bad. I know several mechanical engineers that use macbook pros and none of them ever complain about software problems. Worst case scenario you can always use campus computers when you need a PC.

I bootcamped my mac, and it served me well throughout all of my engineering courses. If you like a mac, I would just stick with it.

You can run BootCamp or a virtual machine to run Windows on a Mac.

I’d say, all else equal, Windows is better for engineering. But use a Mac if you like it.

You can run Windows on a Mac - quite easily.
