Mac or PC for UW

Note: this is NOT an “are Macs or PCs better” question!

I will be attending the University of Washington (Seattle campus) in the fall and will need to purchase a laptop at some point before then. Are there any issues with using a Mac as opposed to a PC? I would personally rather use a Mac, but if I’ll need to use software that only works on a PC, then I’ll buy a PC. I’m interested in majoring in bioengineering, which might make a difference as to what software I’ll use. Which works better at this school, a Mac or PC?

If you would rather use a Mac then just get a mac as you can always just boot camp and use windows on your mac if there happens to be a need for windows.
