I have a sony PC laptop which I think would do me okay for business / General. I am going to McCombs too in Fall 2009 and unless you are minoring in video technology or creating videos/pics etc. mostly media stuff, then you might want the mac.

There is no set type. People get what they want/can afford. And there is support for both mac and pc. In the libraries - the natural science library for sure - there are PCs but some places have macs - like the architecture computer lab.

I have a mac. I love it. But really its up to what you want to pay and what programs you are using.

I found this link about computers to be used in McCombs. It looks up to date enough but it also suggests XP as the operating system so I’m not sure. Maybe this will help.

That may very well be with Vista. It is kind of pretty but it does have its problems. I wasn’t sure computer makers still sold units with XP, which is why I was afraid the info might be out of date.

for those of you who will be writing long papers i recommend either buying a widescreen monitor that you can hook up to your laptop or buy a 15’'+ lappy b/c it sucks typing papers on a 13inch screen :(

Is the Bevoware specific to XP? I’m not in the School of Business (Liberal arts) but I was wondering if there was a specific OS we needed to get. I heard that Engineers needed XP, and now I’ve found out that Business needs XP also. Is it common for ppl to have XP or vista?
