I am gonna attend Ohio University in the fall with a major in journalism. Specifically, with a focus on public relations as opposed to print. Should I buy a mac or pc laptop? I've heard that journalism majors need macs, but I have never had or used oone so im not sure which to get...

im not going into journalism (aero. eng) but from what i can see...programs like word, photoshop, etc, all have cross compatibility of files. in that regard, you should be fine.

however, quark express was mac only the last time i checked. i don't know if it's used heavily for undergrad journalism [given my lack of knowledge here] but if you will need to use it...the mac will be needed.

otherwise, i can't see how the OS you use for word will affect your writing...:)

I've actually used Quark on a PC before...

then i retract what i said about quark and the mac:)

go with the mac if you think it sounds good.

OS X is quick to pick up and a blast to use (plus it actually gets updates and new features unlike the windows update cycle).

It works better and many of the people around you will be using it.
