Ummm...you can't say that a certain computer or operating system is better for USC. It's your own preference, honestly now...

Your preference of the OSes is key. But you could get a Mac INTEL where you can run BOTH Mac OSX and Windows on one computer.

both are supported by the university. You can get by running linux even.

I would say use the one you are used to the most. I would not enjoy trying to figure out MAC after college started since I'm used to windows...

However, if you are into graphic design or your major is related to art, I would say go for mac. Mac has generally been known to be better in that field...

i think Mac has some fat discounts at USC's computer store...and through Mexican Independence Day (not really the reason...but through Sept. 16) if you buy a Mac for educational purposes, you get a "free" iPod ($179 rebate). just some side notes that might convince you. i'm an ardent AMD fan and i wouldnt mind a Mac at all, besides the usually unproportional prices.

personally, i'm taking a Media Center PC AMD 64 X2 4200+ with 2 GB RAM (could augment later to 4 if i choose) because i figured i might need the extra computing power for engineering programs...and i wouldnt need to take a TV :D

Yeah...neither is better at USC... it's just personal preference.
