<p>Almost all engineering/math software is cross-platform.</p>
<p>Basically, the choice comes down to two factors: Do you play lots of games on your PC? Are you short on dough?</p>
<p>If yes to both, get a PC laptop. If no to both, get a PowerBook (stay away from iBooks).</p>
