Mac vs. PC for engineering?

I'm planning on being a freshman Chemical or Electrical engineering student at Tufts this fall, and need to get a new computer.

I really like Mac's a lot, and was thinking of getting a Macbook Pro 13". Are there any software/compatibility issues that would put me at a disadvantage if I used a Mac? I really don't like Windows 8 lol.

Also, if any current engineering students could comment on their experience with using a Mac for engineering courses, that would be appreciated as well!

Windows 7 for the win

Either will be fine; I know plenty of engineers who use a Mac and plenty who use Windows (and some who use Linux, though generally not exclusively)

I use a PC (and occasionally Ubuntu). Windows (especially 7 - not 8 or Vista) will be easiest to get any software you might want but you can get pretty much everything for Mac (or you can dual boot).

So Macs might be marginally more difficult but at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter.
