UCBChemEGrad: c'mon, Macs aren't just for newbies. They're widely used in design, video editing, etc.

^ Oh I know...design/media vs. high powered computing applications. Unless you're a programmer for Apple though, most EECS majors work will involve PCs.

Back in the day, most schools used Macs for school work. Those macs always froze, it was so annoying...thats why i hate macs.

on top of that, you have less software for macs. I bet you cant even use limewire or bearflix on a mac.

i have limewire on my mac.

can you download porn on macs?

haha. im not really sure, i haven't tried.

Thanks, guys. Is using boot camp a bit of a hassle?

Buy a Mac if you want to waste your parent's money.

Else get a Dell like ChemE grad says or an Thinkpad (EECS style) if you want to spend a tad more

PC ftw. I don't know why, but I just hate Mac ever since using those crappy looking iMac donated by Apple in my middle school. And, Windows XP doesn't crash nearly as frequently as its predecessors.

Any gamers out there run games with Boot Camp? Is it worth it?

I was told that Mac is better in with graphic thing etc... but I didnt even tried. I used PC all my life. I think windows XP is enough, Vista is crappy.
for engineers the demand on computers is even less, as long as it can run matlab and latex is ok

what percentage is the apple student discount?

Dell's got the best coupons though.
Once you stack them up, they can get really cheap.

When's the best time to purchase a laptop?
During the back-to-school sale in the summer?
