Hi
Im an international student, got admitted to the two schools (Macalester in MN and Trinity college in Connecticut)
I want to know, in your perspective, what do you guys think of the two colleges?
Im super urban-minded, but ive never been to Twin-cities or Hartford. Please advise!!thx

For an international student who really likes cities, Mac would be the better option. Much bigger, more fun city and a college with many more international students. You’d fit right in.

Thx for the reply dude!
Are you currently at Trinity?

If you’d convince me to attend trinity, what will be your arguments?
I really want to know^^

Macalester would be my choice. More liberal student body, a lot of internationals, and the twin cities have a lot more going on. Trinity is in a very bad neighborhood of a lousy city.

a lousy city?seriously? …didn’t kno that = =a;;

^According to previous posts, aghast is a parent whose daughter now attends Reed College.

I’ve never visited Hartford, nor does anyone in my family know that much about it. My son will visit next week to check out the campus and the town.

Do you have the opportunity to visit each college?

Yes sir~ I will try to make a visit during the summer but that probably means i have to pay 300$ deposit before i make the decision.

tell me about the school after your visit please?? ^^

I know nothing about Macalester but can offer the following about Trinity based on your interests.

You are a quick two hour bus/train ride to New York City and Boston which may be of interest to you both for international flights and all the generally amazing aspects of both cities. I don’t think the Twin Cities compare to NYC and Boston as tourist hot spots.

Trinity has an ever-growing international student body and just opened a theme house (dorm/community space) called iHouse (International House). They also have a growing program called Center for Urban and Global Studies which you should check out on the website. Trinity is becoming known for its academic contributions to the study of global cities. Also, Trinity has many study abroad centers in major world cities: Rome, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and many others. I think Trinity ranks very high in the percentage of students who study abroad.

Hartford, the capitol of Connecticut, offers internships opportunities in many businesses and government agencies and there is an amazingly involved student body that volunteers in Hartford organizations. Trinity tries to be a good neighbor to the poor neighborhood around it.
