MAC2311 Vs MAC2312

I was wondering if any could tell me whether calculus 1 or calculus 2 would be easier in the fall. I took AB in senior year and passed so i know the basics. I plan on applying to the honor college in spring so i need the calc that would give me a better shot at an A. I hear how Calc 1 is a "weed out" so although its more basic, its harder to do well. Any advice would be appreciated!

I suggest that you take Calc 1 in the Fall. It is a weed out but Calc 2 is even more so, and has been known to be much harder concept-wise than Calc 1. My S took Calc AB his senior year too and did just fine in Calc 1. If you have Prof Kozinski, he is a tough prof…the material should be mostly review for you, just presented in a different way. S has no regrets about taking MAC 2311 and not skipping to MAC2312. If you skip to calc 2 for your first semester, it may be too difficult along with all the adjustments you need to go through as an incoming freshman. S had to take back his AP credit though–sign some sort of waiver…as I remember. He found that Calc 2 was harder than Calc 1, and Calc 3 was harder than Calc 2. If you mess one up and have to drop it, some community colleges offer calc 1 and/or 2-
