DD received early write letter today. So excited for her!

Congrats to your Daughter!

Sent from my SGH-I897 using CC

Pkd – mine too! No financial aid info, though. I called the school and they said they would be sending it out in a day or two. Such good news, though – congrats to your daughter!

Regular or email? Thanks.

Bluegreen – regular mail. Dated February 22nd. Maybe yours is on the way :-).

Accepted…
2140 AA Male from NYC

If I just received the letter confirming that my materials are all in two days ago (postmarked the 22nd), am I still possibly on the early notification list? Or is there a greater chance of receiving a decision in March?

Congrats to those who received their early write letters. My D finally received hers yesterday (later than others because we are in a rural community on an island in the middle of the Pacific). She is super excited. Waiting now for the Fin Aid letter to arrive. Crossing our fingers.

Aloha,

Just found out I got in! 1410/2200,perfect grades except one blip junior year, prospective for 3-2 engineering program Waiting on financial aid notification now…asked for a ton of money lol

@breanna2013: I would guess there is a significantly higher chance of receiving your notification in another few weeks, because early admission letters were postmarked 2/22. Good luck to you though!

Hey guys,

Congratulations on your acceptances. I got in a couple of months ago on ED1, and it is exciting to see things moving forward again as the first of you receive RD responses.

Congrats to all who’ve been accepted, but I’m getting a sinking feeling. Nothing in the mailbox…again. NMF; SAT:1480/2260; GPA:4.0/4.7wtd; IB diploma; Three AP 5s so far; decent ECs; highly ranked public HS. What else could we have asked of D? Mac is great, but it was one of the less selective places she applied to. I’m worried there’s poison in GC or teacher rec.

tw23md I know the wait is a killer, but these are just the earliest RD acceptances being posted. Your D sounds like an incredible student. That said, you can’t bank on the raw numbers to indicate selectivity. Small LACs build a class, so admits aren’t done on numbers alone. Lots of students (and parents) end of scratching their heads when supper selective colleges admit them, and ones they considered more likely did not. Apparently, Macalester had another record-breaking number of applications this year.

I’d like to take comfort in that thought, but to judge from the Naviance scattergram at her HS, there hasn’t been a Mac rejection anywhere close to her stats in the last 5 years.

@collegeconscious - Thanks for the reassurance. I’m incredibly nervous.

I’m hoping that it’s just because my materials were in last minute, but what do you guys think? ACT is 32, 3.99/4.0 GPA, I took pretty much the most challenging course load, TONS of ECs (editor/chief writer of the newspaper, youth educator x2, community service, drama, etc), multiple music/academic awards and overseas music experience…

I think my application and essay were pretty solid as well, and I know that at least one of my recs was smashing.

breanna 2013, my son also applied at the last minute last year. His acceptance letter did not go out until March 16th, though I’m not sure that the application date is a factor in the date of notification. It seems each year is different, and I know how hard the wait is, but I think you have an excellent chance. Good luck!

@collegeconscious congrats did you applied early? If not how come you got the decision so early. I am from Pakistan too but I do not have such impressive stats as yours.

@soglad - Okay, well that makes me feel a little better. Considering they received all my materials on the 22nd and that’s when the early writes went out, I should really just calm down. So ready for this wait to be over, though; it’s putting me on edge. Thanks!

Aloha, For those that received Early Write in letters last week: Have any of you received their Fin Aid letter as well? Just curious. If you have are you happy with the amounts?

There wasn’t a finaid package.

Actually, I just got a letter saying that I was a Lealtad Scholar and am awarded $15,000 a year in scholarship money. Still, no word on financial aid.
