Congrats to your D @Descartesz
anyone received any emails

My D was also accepted in the Twin Cities area today via regular mail (bigger-than-letter-sized white envelope that says “Yes Macalester” on the outside). Descartesz, was there any mention of financial aid or merit aid in your D’s envelope? No mention in my D’s, not even saying info would be sent later.

No FA information was included. We did apply for it.

Hopefully we’ll get those letters here in Chicago soon…

So, they only notify by snail mail? Can you call or are they on break next week? We are in California - so the wait is interminable…

So pretty much by looking at the letter you know you have been admitted or not. I’m in Kentucky so I’ll probably find out Tuesday or Wednesday, good luck everyone who is still waiting. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get rejected but I still think Mac is a great school and I’m happy that the people getting admitted are very qualified individuals.

Yes, they only notify by snail mail. KD94025, that is why I wish all colleges would go to an automated process via their portals. It does not seem fair that some students have to wait longer than others to find out based on their geography. Before the internet, you didn’t really know that other students had already heard. Now you know that others have their results, and it makes the wait more difficult. But I am quite sure admissions does not want calls on this. They said in the acceptance letter that they got over 6,000 applications this year, so I am quite sure they do not want calls from all the people who did not get the letter in the first couple of days. Good luck to you!

New member here. What about internationals? Do they have to wait for snail mail?

Intparent: did they say how many were accepted out of the 6,000?

The letter said there were about 6,600 applications (a record for Mac, I think) for about 525 spots but did not actually say how many students were admitted. If past practice was followed, about 2,100 would have been admitted. Figures to be about a 32% acceptance rate and 25% yield.

Congrats to Descartesz and inparent!
intparent – my D was accepted in February. FA followed a few days after the acceptance letter. As you mentioned, the acceptance letter did not even mention that FA was to follow.

I’m from Michigan and I just received my acceptance today! Feels great, hopefully others hear soon!

International and waiting for snail mail which takes up to a fortnight to reach.

Last month I was invited by another university to apply for their presidential fellowship.Letter reached much after deadline.Fortunately an email reminder reached ahead of deadline and I cud apply in time.

I think, correct me if I’m wrong, that acceptance letters are usually sent via courier service for internationals.

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like internationals get emails.

^^ by when will int’l applicants get email?

Based on last year’s thread, international emails were sent out four days after the mailed letter date. This year that was 3-15, so a reasonable projection would be 3-19.

Yes in Seattle!

34, 3.9 uw

ok thanks, Descartez!

@Descartesz Thanks for the update

I got my acceptance today! pretty excited doesn’t look like I got any aid though. Does Mac send that information in the coming weeks or is it all in the package. Some other schools have said that aid will come in later in March. lemme know!
