Macalester Class of 2020 RD

REJECTED
International with high aid…
although i did have 3 A*s and an A in GCE A levels, and 35 on ACT
lets see what the other colleges have for me…

Accepted with 15k/yr scholarship. 31 ACT, 3.9 GPA, really good ECs (2 internships, lots of volunteer hours, tutor for three years etc.). Very excited and surprised I got a scholarship because my scores were just average for the school!

Accepted with 2160 SAT, 33 ACT. DeWitt Wallace Distinguished Scholarship for 17k/yr. Really, really happy to be accepted here!

Rejected, I thought my EC’s, grades and supplement would get me in, I guess they didn’t.

Accepted with SAT 1980, 4.0 GPA!!! (and lots of ECs and leadership experience). Thanks everyone, so honored

Rejected international, 2150 SAT, 9/10 GPA, good ECs. Any internationals who have been accepted?

I’m an international as well @badlands. Did you request finaid? I know they were pretty generous for internationals but I guess it ultimately hurt a lot.

@erroneous45 I did ask for rather substantial financial aid. I hope I was rejected because of the aid requirements and not because of my application. Which other colleges have you applied to?

Denied. International student, SAT 2110, ECs slightly above average, but strong leadership skills (eg. Few years in student gov.) GPA >5/6. I hope I got rejected because of the pretty big financial aid that I asked for.

@RyzacPL Join the club.

I’m international too and the aid I’ve applied for is quite a lot. Hopefully, it doesn’t hurt my chances by too much for the other schools I’ve applied too. Still pretty upset about Mac, I was really into the school.

Rejected. International. I needed a full ride so it’s quite understandable

S accepted, $4k merit aid (3.5 UW GPA, 2340). Not even close to enough to consider. Not surprised, nice to get in anyway.

Accepted with $24,000 Catharine Lealtad Scholarship ($6k every year), named a Lealtad Scholar! My financial aid package is also pretty nice. 1770 SAT, but 4.6/3.8 GPA, and took 7 APs, ranked 3rd in my class. Aside from my SAT being very low, I think everything else on my app was pretty strong! (including ECs and Essay). Truthfully though, I was scared to be rejected because of my low SAT. They even offered me a fly-in for April, I’d only have to pay a $75 traveling fee!

Seems like they didn’t like internationals too much this year haha. Good luck to all for the rest of your apps and once again congrats to those who got in!

Accepted! US citizen applying from abroad. $15k/year De Witt scholarship, I applied for need-based aid as well but it’s not done yet.

Accepted with a full financial aid  International, SAT 2000  Still waiting for other colleges

@clueless2016 Curious about how the fly-in offer was presented. My daughter was accepted and would like to visit, but we simply cannot afford it.

@dedex13 on the portal, at the bottom there’s a link that should say “extended sampler visitation.” clicking on it will direct to a letter outlining that they will pay for everything, except you have to pay the $75 nonrefundable participation fee.

D waitlisted. It’s such an interesting school, but we were waiting to visit - now don’t know if we should! Does anyone know if any aid is forthcoming to students accepted off the waitlist? D has already gotten generous packages from a few schools and is still waiting to hear from others.

FYI, 31 ACT, 4.01 GPA weighted. Pretty good volunteer, part-time job, average ECs, great essays!
