I think its great that Hamilton provides the shuttle service and it is clearly scheduled to help students do their off campus shopping. I’m sure it is especially beneficial to those without vehicles. Socioeconomic differences on campuses can lead to differences in access to those who do and do not have cars. The shuttle helps even the playing field in terms of access. As we don’t provide our college students with cars, I know they would have appreciated the shuttle had they attended Hamilton.
@doschicos, agree that certain NE schools such as Colgate, Hamilton, Middlebury and Williams would have even lower acceptance rates if they were in a more amenity rich area - Bowdoin and Swarthmore provide that insight. I think that also holds true for many Midwest schools that were also impacted by the Red vs Blue political divide as several top-30 saw applications drop by 15-20%.
@doschicos
The colleges I mentioned in my post were taken from the OP’s own list. I did not “conveniently” leave out women’s colleges, as I did not set out to recommend new schools to her. My intent was to point out that she already had some excellent options on the early list she generated herself.
As an aside, I am a graduate of one of the Seven Sisters. When appropriate and relevant I proudly recommend women’s colleges. In this case, women’s colleges would offer the OP additional fantastic options. Should she express an interest in these schools, I’d be happy to offer her my thoughts.
My comment was directed towards your decision to call me out by quoting only one part of that post. I wasn’t commenting on your post nor was my comment that you took personally solely directed at you.
