Macalester notified me through email today at 12 pm PST, was admitted!

Accepted with Dewitt Wallace Scholarship plus need merit!
SAT: 1540
GPA: 4.25 W
EC’s: ok

Rejected
ACT: 35
GPA: below 3 for freshman + soph years, 3.8 for two junior years (transferred and added a year)
ECs: fine

DD accepted with Dewitt Wallace Scholarship - $18K. She has 1480 SAT, 33 ACT, 4.0 GPA UW, 6 AP classes, decent ECs, great essay and recs. Will be a reach for our budget, but nice to get an acceptance! She has two acceptances, and is waiting on 6 more (was deferred ED1 from Bowdoin, so that is one of the six.) This whole process is SO hard.

I got my decision today. I got in. yay!

My dd just got accepted. Macalester is SUCH a good school. You can’t go wrong. Her stats are: 35 ACT, 3.93 unweighted GPA. AP calc BC = 5 (other AP’s are 4’s and 5’s) tons of IB courses. And I of course am completely biased so I think her essays are great, but I could be wrong. No Dewitt though. So for those of you who got it, be proud! I work at another ACTC college and she’s eligible for a tuition remission for 75% so that ends up being about $150,000 which is nothing to sneeze at.

S18 accepted with $20K Dewitt scholarship. 1540 SAT, 4.0UW, 10 APs (five 5s, one 3 so far), v.good ECs (senior class president, etc.)

Mac just had its 3rd suicide in 3 yrs in the dorms at Mac. All soph students. Only 2500 students. What is going on? Pls consider this before you decide.

to all who didn’t get in – I was absolutely heartbroken when I applied early decision to and was rejected from another top midwestern lac and got rejected. I cried a lot, and I didn’t do anything for a few days. it was really hard, and then I picked myself up and submitted my application to mac and 6 other schools for rd. you all will have acceptances coming to schools that you will love (or maybe you’ve already been accepted!), and even though everything seems really sad right now, it WILL be okay in the end.

Accepted with a 55K pa Scholarship …

Accepted with 15K merit scholarship. Stats: 1460 SAT, 4.0 with some but not a ton of APs, good ECs with leadership and many awards in art.

Congrats to your son. (I think that is the top merit scholarship.)

20K, that is.

S18 is quite excited about his acceptance! Mac has been one of his favorites since his visit.

Accepted, no aid. 1390 SAT, 98.7 GPA(100 point scale), all IB classes, 1 AP class. 3 season athlete and leadership role in several clubs

Accepted, Dewitt Wallace (10k).

ACT: 32
W GPA: 4.2
Only a few APs/honors, but good leadership/student government ECs and I wrote a poem for my common app, so good hooks.

Accepted! Dewitt Wallace and Campus Residence Grant!
SAT: 1240, ACT: 28, GPA: 4.0

To be quite honest, I hope my post inspires a lot of people to apply who don’t think they can get in! As you can see, I don’t have the best test scores, but I think what really made me stand out were my EC’s and essays that I worked on since junior year. Don’t be intimidated by all the high scores in this thread bec Ik i was!!
