you knew it was inevitable.

i got into both (yay!) and now i have to decide, is there anything that distinguishes them BESIDES location. (i know it's a huge deal, but honestly, it is not a factor in my decision, at all)

woohoo!!!!, I'm totally with you on this one--location wasn't really a factor for me as well. I visited both during my junior year--which, admittedly, was a while ago--and one of the things I noticed was that Carleton students seemed to be a little bit quirkier, a little bit more offbeat. Again, this is only my opinion, and I'm probably going to revisit both before making any choice.

BTW, what about Macalester versus Carleton versus Grinnell? Or is that something better left to another forum?

yea, i applied to grinnell, but for really bad reasosn (my mom said she'd buy me a pair of shoes) and i'll probably be rejected/waitlisted because i didn't show any interest. but it's is totally ok with me if the Mac v Carl v Grinnell is discussed here.

i am not going to revisit the schools (i visited during the fall), so let me know how it goes!

A pair of shoes...? I'm so intrigued...

HAHHA you probably think i'm some shallow person. But im not, I SWEAR! i didn't/don't like Grinnell, it's because my mom pushed it down my throat way too much. It's funny, because she didn't do that with her alma mater, carleton, but she was like GRINNELL GRINNELL GRINNELL!! all time.

I know Grinnell is a great school, but i'm still a slightly rebelious teenager.

PLUS i got a kick ass pair of pumas for 30$. sweeeeeeeet.

Don't worry, I don't think you're shallow ;) Actually, I totally understand, because my mom didn't really push her alma mater, Beloit, either, but she was really into SWARTHMORE SWARTHMORE SWARTHMORE (she's probably going to read this and deny she ever did such a thing). Only I liked Swarthmore and ended up applying rather willingly.

Plus, I love my Pumas too...

Where else did you apply, if you don't mind me asking?

right, so i applied to way too many schoos (10), but in october i thought i would be rejected so yea. but: Bowdoin, Bates, Colby, UVM, Pitt, Haverford, Kenyon, Macalester, Carleton, and Grinnell.

So far i'm five for five (Mac, Carl, Kenyon, UVM, Pitt). I'm so glad that this is all working out...i was so so so worried that colleges would just look at my sat scores and say "DENY." AHH i am so happy!

Where else did you apply?

Yeah, I had eleven schools, so we're in the same range. So far I'm into Lawrence, Grinnell, Macalester, Carleton; I'm still waiting to hear back from Oberlin, Yale, Amherst, Harvard, Vassar, Brown, and Swarthmore. But I'm really happy with the schools I've gotten into this far. Are you leaning towards any particular place at the moment?

yes, carleton. if i don't get into haverford then i decision will be fairly easy. yay!

are you leaning somewhere?

I'd like to visit my schools again before making any decisions... not sure if I'll have time to, though.
