In Macaulay Honors Baruch's Application, I must answer two of three questions. I have chosen to answer:

Discuss some issue of local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

Tell us about a book, artwork, or lab experiment that changed the way you see the world. What was it about the work that affected you? How did your world become different?

500 words or less

For the first topic, I've decided to write about why I think the world needs to be vegetarian. That's not exactly the Oil Spill Problem nor is it any type of current news. It is an international concern as I explain why in my response. What are your opinions on whether or not I've stretched the boundaries of the question?

I'm going to write about a manga series I read. It is a book, but what is your opinion about choosing to write about a manga that changed the way you see the world?

Note: Manga is not taught in my high school nor has it been taught in any of my previous schools (elementary + middle). My view of it is that teachers see it as junk literature.
