I know that Macaulay gives free tuition but what about dorms (and food)? Is that out-of-pocket money? I know that there are dorms at the Hunter campus, but is it covered by the scholarship as well and will the food be free? The reason I'm asking is because I don't want my parents to have to pay alot so I want to chose a college that will give me the best financial package. Thanks!

I believe It has free dorms… I am looking into the Honors college at CUNY City College, and there food IS NOT included because the On campus housing, are actually apartments, so you would need to go like grocery shopping twice a month or so. I cannot speak for hunter. They also give a free unlimited metro card to, so even if you have to pay for food ( groceries) is and room is about 12-13k a year which is a little over 40K over a course of 4 years which is honestly like nothing

but then again be sure to have back-up plans, because you may not get into the honors program; do you qualify for need based aid, because you don’t need to pay those back. You need to take a closer look into your financial situation.

Yeah, I’m definitely not depending on getting the honors, because I know the applicant pool growing every year, but I want to apply because it is a reallly attractive package. Not having food is only a minor setback because NYC has alot to offer in terms of food and 13k is acceptable. Thanks for the information Jazzii! Getting the free unlimited metro card is AWESOME!

Hunter College has the dorms free for two years fall and spring semester. There is no meal plan but they have something called dining dollars so you can get food from the cafeteria and vending machines from the Hunter ID card but you have to put money on it.
