Hey guys, I wanted to see what you thought of my chances for Macaulay honors college @ Hunter
GPA-3.75 at Chaminade High School (Pretty selective school, didn't work at all)
Sat 2-part- 1510
ACT- 34 highest composite, 35.25 superscore (so close)
So, once again, Can you guys please chance me? I come from an immigrant family, don't live in NYC, but I do live in New York State.
PLEASE chance me, I can't afford both law school and undergrad so I need to know.
Thanks

Bump, would really love to hear some responses.

Also, my two essays were about teaching myself to read/fall in love with English before getting a perfect on every English test I have ever taken, and about my success in debate(Nationals, State Champs) as well as my service(very religious).
Hopefully that will help you get a better picture of me as an applicant.

Although competition is fierce, i sincerely believe that you should get into Macaulay. Your stats are very strong and the essays sound interesting. Good luck.

Thanks a lot. I’m in a bit of a sticky situation as you can see, and this was very relieving.

Yeah i know how you feel, you’re very welcome.

bumpidy bump, 2nd opinions are nice

Thank you for your interest in Macaulay Honors College.

Academically eligible applicants to Macaulay Honors generally have a cumulative high school average of 90% (3.5 GPA) or higher. These students also have cumulative SAT scores (Math and Critical Reading sections only) that range from 1250 to 1600 or ACT scores that range from 28 - 36.

The average SAT score for an accepted student last year was 1410 (Math and Critical Reading sections combined) and the mean high school average was 93.9%. [The mean ACT equivalent would be 32, and the GPA equivalent would be 3.85].

However, although high academic achievement is a requirement, a student who has excellent grades or test scores will not be admitted to Macaulay Honors College solely on those grounds. All prospective students are reviewed for admission based on a holistic view of eligibility to the program. A student’s recommendations and essays, which highlight co-curricular activities, community involvement, and leadership skills, are key components of a strong application.

Yeah I’m currently a freshman at Macaulay at Hunter and I’d definitely say you have a pretty good chance of getting in, as your scores are higher than lots of kids’ here. Macaulay does place a pretty big emphasis on non-academic activities and essays too, so as long as those are good and you do well in the interview (which Macaulay asks you to have and which is usually a good sign that you’ll get accepted), I think you’ll get in
