Thanks. That kind of cleared it up.
The thing about premed is that the sophie davis school of biomedical education at city college is a 6 or 7 year program where you also take the first two years of medical college and when you graduate, they set you up with a medical school for the last two years, some of them are New York Medical College, Upstate, downstate, and stony brook I think. And those are amazing medical schools. I think some of the top schools in the country. Thats what I read on a website. When I checked how you apply to it, they mentioned that you have to send in two applications and I don’t know if thats different from the regular cuny application. And I also don’t know if it applies to macaulay.

I found this, which might help.

Hi everyone, I would like to know… Does Macaulay Honors College at Queens College pay for dorms, too? Does the scholarship that a MHC student receives covers dorms and tuition or just only tuition? Any reply would be greatly appreciated

If MHC at Queens does not offer free dorms, how do the honors students live? How expensive is the living cost for MHC students at Queens?

Hello! I know this may be a late response-but I figured I would answer the question regardless. Queens College does have dorming on campus, and Macaulay Honors students are guaranteed a bed if they choose to dorm (not all students are). However, Macaulay does not cover the costs of dorming at Queens College-so the student would have to pay for it. The dorms are suite style living with 2 or 4 bedrooms (doubles or singles) with 2 bathrooms, a small living room, small dining area, and small kitchen. Basically, it resembles a little apartment. Because the dorms come with kitchenettes-meal plans are not included, though you can purchase a meal plan separately if you wish to. for pricing, I recommend you visit the Queens College website. Details on dorming (the dorm building is called The Summit) can be found under Student Life. I hope this helps!

I am currently a senior in high school and i have gotten into Macaulay Honors College at the College of Staten Island. I come from a family that has low income; however, I have been accepted to SUNY: Bufallo, New Paltz, Stony Brook, Albany. I want to become a doctor (thinking about specializing in nueroscience, unsure). My main concern is that at Macaulay, after my first year i will have classes with the general population, regular students. I’m worried that my education won’t be up to par with the education i would have received if i went away. In addition, i have recieved a Transfer Option from Cornell, which states if i get a 3.3 or higher my freshman year at a different college, I will get high-prioperty transfer (cornell is my dream school). I have also been waitlisted by Northeastern, but i doubt i will be able to go due to money

Please help me. May 1st is the deadline

if i show financial need would i be able to get my dorms paid for? i wasn’t planning on sending fafsa because the tuition is paid for if i get accepted. However I’m applying to CCNY so they don’t provide housing.

safiyyah97 You have to send FAFSA if accepted to Macaulay. The scholarship while merit based, requires you file both FAFSA and if a NY resident, then TAP. This was the only school my son had to do so, many gave merit aid but only this one required FAFSA.

f2013college Did you ever transfer to Cornell ? My son has same option, for Sep 2015 and trying to decide if he should go or not (he is in Macaulay now).

My daughter has to decide between Macaulay at City College and Honors college at Stony Brook.
What concerns me in City college is low ranking, very low 4-year graduation rate.
Yes, you are in Macaulay program, but it is still based on City college, so you have to take same classes with same professors that all City college students do.
Can you please eleborate on this?
Does anyone know if Macaulay covers dorming fees in regard to City College specifically?
ask them - they do for some colleges, not all.
