Hi! I just got sent an email stating that I passed the first round of admissions and that the next step of the process is an interview. Are interviews at Macaulay’s Hunter mandatory? Will my application be voided if I cannot attend an interview? If I do not attend the interview, will I be at a disadvantage in comparison to the the other applicants who attend?
Also, does anyone know what they question you about during the macaulay interview? I get really nervous in situations like these and like to kinda prepare answers ahead of time to have some thoughts already so if i get nervous my mind doesn’t go blank! The email said it’s an interview “with the macaulay committee” so does that mean its going to be a group of interviewers or just a one on one interview. Also, how long do the interviews usually last for?
Lastly, Does anyone know the rate of acceptance when receiving an interview? My stats are kinda low for macaulay, but they still wanted to interview me! I was wondering if anyone knew if once you received an interview you are basically in or your still in a huge pool of people! Please let me know
Oh my god I have all the same exact questions as you.
Ok so what I’ve heard is that these are “informational interviews” focusing on the school and letting you know what Hunter is all about. They will definitely ask you questions about yourself, but I think the focus is going to be on the college and its programs. The interview will have other Macaulay applicants in the room with you and the committee. The interview is optional, but it is absolutely recommended. It could definitely help. This is what I am expecting, as I’ve just heard this from others.
Yeah actually, are these interviews given to every other applicant?
@neemo98 Ok wait so what exactly do you mean by informational interviews and other kids are in the room with you. does that mean its more of a presentation then asking questions? Or does it just mean theres multiple interviewers and we all go in at once and sit with one interviewer? I’m just not very good with one on one conversations and this is making me so nervous. And no the interviews are only given to the kids who pass the first pool of applications and want to be further considered in the program.
what were both of your sat two parts and gpa’s, if you do not mind me asking? I am applying to Macaulay Baruch and have not gotten my interview yet. Thanks in advance, and good luck with your interviews!
@igoro98 i dont really know how i got the interview cause my weighted gpa is a 96.7 and my sat composite is a 1290 math 710 and reading 580
My weighted gpa is 97.7 and my two part is 1320, 700 math and 620 reading. So very similar stats, hopefully I get an interview too, just waiting for that email. Good luck with yours! @waveycrocket
There are only ~30 slots for the Hunter interviews so I would guess there are <=30 people who were invited for the Hunter Macaulay interviews. I don’t know what to expect… Is a suit overdressing?
@igoro98 actually i dont think baruch does interviews i guess its just a hunter thing because some other people applying there didnt get an email either not sure tho
@waveycrocket like i said i only know all this information from another thread online ill link it if i cant find it again
the thing is my friend who got on last year told me it was one on one for him
maybe they change it up??
@waveycrocket hey i see that we have similar stats and was wondering if you have heard anything about your regular Hunter admission because I have not and I´m getting SuPer nervous lol
@nycllaza102 Hey, No i havent yet but no worries!! Im sure we will soon :))
